5 WAYS TO SECURE YOUR LAWN SIGNS
There’s little else more disheartening than designing and displaying beautiful lawn signs only for them to be vandalized or destroyed by forces of nature.
While our coroplast lawn signs are extremely durable, they’re not invincible but we have a few suggestions on how best to keep them safe.
1\ SECURE THEM IN THE GROUND
While the H frame metal step stakes we sell with our lawn signs can dig deep and are easy to install they’re also fairly easy to remove.
The same attributes that makes lawn signs simple to install and move are unfortunately also available to those wishing to do harm by stealing them.
To help slow a would be thief down, try securing the lawn signs by Gorilla gluing the coroplast sign to the step stake frame then add more reinforcement to the bottom of the frame into the ground.
Let’s face it, those attempting to steal lawn signs are likely not the most brave people around and may give up after 1 or 2 failed yanks and move along.
2\ BRING THEM IN AT NIGHT
Like most crime and tomfoolery, lawn sign vandalism and theft tends to occur most often at night.
You can reduce the chances or your lawn sign being damaged, destroyed or stolen if you bring it in each night.
It’s a little extra work, but if you’ve had your lawn signs lost once before already you may want to avoid that whole “fool me twice shame on me” situation.
3\ SET UP A MOTION SENOR SPRINKLER
This is where security becomes fun!
Motion activated sprinkler systems like this one offered by Orbit are designed to humanely keep wildlife away from your lawn or garden, but that doesn’t mean they can have other practical uses as well. :)
Set one of these up with your lawn signs within the motion radius. It should be enough to scare off most thieves, but if not at least they’re in for a good soaking.
4\ PLACE THEM CLOSE TO BUILDINGS
The closer a thief would need to get to your building the less likely they will be brave enough to do so.
For those who do take the risk and come in close, hopefully you’ll have a camera and motion light waiting for them.
It might not do the job to deter the more motivated lawn sign bandits, but it will at least get a good look at them on camera.
5\ MAKE THEM SLIPPERY OR STICKY
Sometimes the best security is the simplest security.
This may seem a little “3 stooges” or “looney tunes” but it actually makes a lot of sense.
You could add a clear substance to the signs that either makes them slippery or sticky. Either way the point is to irritate the would be thief while delaying their efforts long enough for their bravery to evaporate and send them running.
Worst case scenario they make off with your sign but pay the price with an annoying mess on their hands.
We recommend combining 2 or more of these lawn sign security measures.
Secure the lawn signs into the ground + coat it in a clear slippery oil + set up motion sprinkler + get it on camera.
We can’t guarantee it will keep your lawn signs 100% safe but we can promise it will at least make for some entertaining footage to play back later. :)
